Research Team

Sunay Mammadov, CFA is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Materials & Energy team and is our Oil and Gas analyst responsible for covering integrated oil and gas producers, refineries, and coal companies across the Emerging Markets. Sunay graduated with an MBA from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. He is a CFA charter-holder and a Certified Management Accountant.

Sunay has 8 years of financial analysis and accounting experience, including roles with IFC as an operations officer, Arthur Andersen as a corporate finance consultant, and Azpetrol Oil Company (Azerbaijan) as an investment officer.

Luisa Moreno, PhD is LUSIGHT's materials and metals analyst responsible for covering metal mining and steel companies across the Emerging Markets and is a member of LUSIGHT's Materials & Energy team. She is a physics engineer and completed her PhD in Mechanics and Materials at Imperial College, University of London in the UK.

Luisa has extensive R&D experience in engineering materials, and also has experience in early stage investments, technology transfer and commercialization plus intellectual property protection. Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Luisa worked at OCE were she managed investments in technologies and start-up companies.

Tom Tran is a member of LUSIGHT's Materials team. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Toronto and an MBA from Concordia University. He is a CFA level 3 candidate.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Tom worked for RBC Dexia, Sun Life Financial and BMO Nesbitt Burns.

Maria-Gabriella Khoury, CFA is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Consumer team, and oversees LUSIGHT's coverage of the Middle East, the Gulf and North Africa. She graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and later received her MBA degree from HEC Montreal. Maria-Gabriella is a CFA charter-holder.

Maria-Gabriella has extensive equity research experience covering the MENA region which she gained while working for the Atlas Investment Group and Jordinvest.

Claudio Soto is a member of LUSIGHT's Consumer team and follows retailers in the LATAM region. Mr. Soto holds a Bachelor of Commerce with High Distinction from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Claudio served as the Economics Affairs Aide with the Consulate General of Japan in Toronto responsible for policy and macro/microeconomic research and analysis. He also taught at the University of Toronto, where he participated in market efficiency research at the Rotman Financial Research and Trading Lab.

Krupa Desai is a member of LUSIGHT's Consumer team and covers the Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology sectors. Krupa is a Mechanical Engineer and has recently completed her MBA from Rotman School of Management, Toronto. She is a CFA level 3 candidate.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT Krupa had experience in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry.

Kevin Ko is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Telecommunications team covering the broad Telecommunications sector including both fixed line and wireless across the Emerging Markets. Kevin received his Public Accountancy degree from McGill University in 1996 and his BA/BComm. from the University of Western Ontario.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Kevin worked as a technology analyst for Dongsuh Securities in Seoul for two years, and as an analyst for CSFB in Seoul for five years.

Omar Grant, P.Eng is a member of LUSIGHT's Telecommunications team. He holds MBA and MSF degrees from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. Omar is a registered professional engineer, and is also a CFA Level II candidate.

Omar has extensive telecom industry experience with Bell Canada, Sprint and Level 3 Communications where he was responsible for design and operations management of core networks throughout North America.

Goshen Benzaquen is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Financial Services team and also follows financial institutions in the LATAM region. Goshen holds an honors Bachelor degree in Economics from York University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT Goshen worked at Deloitte & Touche as a consultant in their Performance Management group advising companies on corporate finance issues. Before that Goshen spent 5 years with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in a number of corporate finance roles as part of the Financial Management Development Program. In his last role at RBC, Goshen was part of the Capital Management group of the bank.

Bita Moradi is a member of LUSIGHT's Financial Services team, and follows financial institutions in the EMEA and South Asian regions. Bita holds an honors Bachelor degree in Administrative Studies (Accounting) from York University.

Ethan Yoon, CFA is a member of LUSIGHT's Financial Services team, and follows financial institutions in the ASIA and EMEA regions. Ethan is a Certified Management Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Toronto. Ethan is also a CFA charter-holder.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Ethan worked at CIBC for 4 years in securities services and structured credit trading units.

Khaled Abou-Zied is a member of LUSIGHT's Financial Services team and is responsible for covering Financial Institutions in the Middle East and Africa. Khaled has an MBA and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Khaled worked as an Investment Analyst for ABN AMRO Delta Asset Management in Egypt.

Tony Tang, CFA is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Technology team, focusing mainly on emerging technology companies in Asia and Latin America. Tony has an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, and an MBA from the University of Ottawa. He is also a CFA charter-holder.

Tony has extensive experience as a financial analyst, including three and a half years as an equity analyst with HSBC Securities in Hong Kong.

Daniel Zhu, CFA is LUSIGHT's Semi-conductor analyst, and a member of LUSIGHT's Technology team. Daniel graduated with a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. from the Nankai University, Tianjin, China, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. He is also a CFA charter-holder.

Daniel has extensive experience in the semi-conductor industry, having worked as a senior process and product engineer for Motorola for eight years in plants in Tianjin China, Aizu Japan, and Austin Texas.

Shashank Rohatgi, CFA is Sector Head of LUSIGHT's Utilities and Infrastructure team and is responsible for covering utilities and infrastructure companies across the Emerging Markets. He has an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology and is also a CFA charter-holder.

Prior to joining LUSIGHT, Shashank had two years of experience in the areas of Financial Analysis and Business Valuation for a bank in the US and an industrial company in India.

Tae Hyun An is LUSIGHT's financial analyst responsible for quantitative products as well as contributing to the development of the research platform. He also covers the transportation, airline, and logistics industries across the Emerging Markets. Tae has a Master of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University. As a part of MBA graduation requirement, he presented a thesis on derivatives use and hedging practices in the airline industry. He is also a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

His prior work experience includes investment research and equity trading.

Punit Anand is LUSIGHT's financial analyst responsible for implementing new financial research products and models. He has a BEng. degree in Electronics Engineering from Regional Engineering College of Surat in India and an MBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland, 2007.

He has extensive telecom sector work experience in both India and the US, and its associated software and protocols. Furthermore, he has presented research papers to Academy of Finance and Administrative Science Association of Canada (ASAC). His research paper titled, "Accounting Models for Equity Valuation" was awarded first position by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV). He is also a level III CFA Candidate.
